Benny Wu On Chin passed away peacefully on November 17, 2017 at his home in Kenmore, Washington at the age of 79,
succumbing to lung cancer. Benny was born in Shanghai, China and lived in Hong Kong, Okinawa, Vietnam, and Guam, before settling in Honolulu, Hawaii. He and his wife, Betty Lai Kuen (Chiu) Chin, lived in Honolulu for 40 years before moving to Washington state to be closer to family members.
Prior to retirement, Benny was an Account Manager for Y Hata, a food distribution company in Hawaii, and as such, frequented many restaurants. His job spilled over into his personal life where his main interests were cooking delicious meals for his family, trying new restaurants, and eating new and exotic dishes.
Benny had a love for adventure and travels, which brought him to live in 5 different countries. He was known for his warm generosity, willingness to always help others, and his big smile and hearty laughter. His kindness and loving manner will be held in the hearts of those whose lives he has touched.
Benny is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty, son Steven Chin (Jacelyn) of Brentwood, California, son in law Alan Yamamura of New York, New York, daughter Peggy Evans (David) of Kenmore, Washington, and 6 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia.
