Carol Selby Hawes

Carol, 77, passed away peacefully from natural causes in the early morning of Friday, November 27, 2015 after a prolonged illness.
 
Carol was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She attended Loyal Heights Grade School, James Monroe Junior High School and Ballard High School. The highlight of her high school years was hanging out at legendary Zesto’s across the street from Ballard. Carol married Ray Hawes when she was 18 and was married for 52 years until his death. They raised three children and enjoyed their four grandchildren. Carol and Ray liked to travel around the United States, and especially loved spending time at their property on the Pacific Coast of Washington. She worked and retired from the family business, Reliance Manufacturing. Carol also loved her Sonics, Seahawks and Huskies.
 
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Ray; her parents, Harry Selby and Margaret Selby-Barkley; her step-father Bill Barkley; her son Michael (Lynn); and her brother Dick Selby (Gloria). Carol is survived by her sons John and Patrick (Janet); her brother Ed Barkley (Bonnie); grandchildren Brandon, Sean, Brett and Collette; and many nieces and nephews.
 
As per Carol’s request, no services were held. Donations in her name may be made to the Evergreen Hospital Hospice Center in Kirkland, Washington.
