Charles (Chuck) Allen Morse passed away peacefully in his home in Lynnwood, WA on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the age of 88. He was born on April 27, 1933 in Spokane, WA, the first child of Allen R. Morse and Marion E. Morse (Murray). The family later moved to West Seattle, WA.
Chuck graduated from O’Dea High School in June of 1952 and promptly joined the Air Force in September of the same year. He served active duty for 4 years service including overseas deployments in Germany and South Africa during the Korean War and 3 years in the reserves before being discharged in October of 1959. Chuck spoke often of his years in Germany and South Africa regaling stories of those times to family and friends.
On February 20, 1954, Chuck married his high school sweetheart Beverly (Bev) J. Ramsden at St. John’s Church in Seattle, WA. Soon after he was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska where their first child was born in 1956. The young family returned to their home state of Washington where their other 4 children were born. They told many stories of the numerous camping trips taken with their 5 young children, sharing memories of the trials and tribulations associated with those trips. One such story was when their eldest child was 7 and youngest was an infant. The family was pulling a boat so Chuck could water ski and had a large family tent for the 7 of them to sleep. On this particular trip, it rained so hard the tent got flooded! Needless to say the family soon sold the boat and purchased a trailer which they traveled with for many years.
Upon being discharged from the Service with training as an electrician specializing in communications, Chuck began a career with Seeburg Music and later with the Muzak company. He worked many years crawling in both building and SeaTac Airport ceilings working on intercom and/or music system wiring.
Chuck loved many things, among them music. Dixieland was his favorite but he also enjoyed Jazz, and musical soundtracks. He had quite the collection of albums and would often unwind after a day of work listening to them. He also enjoyed the Irish Rovers. One year for his birthday his children took him to an Irish Rover concert and fun was had by all.
After working for 36 years Chuck retired, and he and Bev became snowbirds heading to Yuma Arizona to seek sunshine and relaxation. They traveled through Canyons and State Parks along the way. There were many interesting stories they shared on their adventures. Including the time the motorhome lost it’s brakes and they were lucky to be on flat land and able to come to a safe stop. They met many interesting people and made new friends from throughout the US and Canada. Bev was a crafty person and soon had Chuck getting involved in some crafts as well. He was quite astute at making hat bands out of pop can rings, beads and leather string.
After the passing of his wife Beverly in March of 2004, Chuck was fortunate to find another love in life, Margaret A. Morse (Sinkew). They shared a common past having gone through high school together, along with his first wife Bev. On April, 14, 2005 the couple was married in St. Thomas More Church and became a blended family totaling together 10 children and multiple grandchildren. The couple shared many trips together through their 17 years of marriage. They enjoyed many trips to Jazz festivals with their friends and two overseas trips, one to Ireland and one to Germany. The last two years of their marriage were spent in Quail Park senior living community where despite COVID-19 restrictions, they were able to meet new friends and participate in many activities. It was in their home that Chuck passed peacefully surrounded by his family.
Chuck was preceded in death by both his parents, his sister, Jacqueline (Jackie) Meredith, wife, Beverly, daughter Susan Mechling and son-in-law James Hale.
