Claudette Bergman

Claudette “Dee” Bergman (Ballew) was born in Rapid City, SD on May 15, 1937, the third daughter of Donald and Blanche (Abelson) Ballew. She passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024 in Renton, WA.

As a child her family moved often throughout the country before finally settling in Renton, WA where Dee would attend Renton High School. Here she would meet her future husband and many lifelong friends. In 1957 she married Ronald “Ron” Bergman with whom she shared a loving marriage until his death in 1999. She never remarried or dated as she claimed she wanted “nothing that eats”. In their time together, they had two children, James “Jim” and Jackie.

After attending a business course, Dee proudly worked as a stenographer at Boeing and for the Renton school district for many years, eventually working her way up to supervisor. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling with family and friends, spending time at her cabin on Lake Cushman, reading, playing card games, and shopping. More than anything Dee loved her family and she always ensured that they felt that love. Dee was an incredibly kind, friendly, and warm person who never failed to make everyone around her laugh and smile. She will be missed dearly by all those who were lucky enough to know her.

Dee is survived by her children James (Juanita) Bergman and Jackie (Scott) Brown, as well as grandchildren Kelsey (Sam) Gardipee, Ian (Krissy) Bergman, and Madison (Lukas) Chudaska, and one great-grandchild Emerson Gardipee. She leaves behind the legacy of love and laughter that she shared with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, husband, and many close friends.

As per her wishes, a celebration of life will not be taking place. At a later date, her family will be spreading her ashes at her happy place: Lake Cushman – where she can finally be reunited with Ron.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, to honor Dee, donations can be made to the Renton Regional Fire Authority FDCARES Fund at
