It is with extreme sorrow that the family of Cornell Ray Alexander announces his passing. Beloved son of Doris Alexander and David Daniels, Cornell passed away at home in Seattle on October 4, 2018.
No matter the road or life’s journey Cornell found himself on, he always arrived in good spirits and made the best of the situation. Along the way, Cornell was friendly to everyone and generous to those who were closest to him or simply in need. He was a caring and protective big brother to his younger siblings, Shelton and June.
Cornell was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 6, 1955. He was the eldest of three children who were raised by their Aunt Edith and Uncle Willie Ransom along with their four children, three boys and one girl; Willie Jr., Jeffrey, Bruce and Cheryl, as one large expanded family.
The family relocated to Seattle when Cornell was nine years old. Some years later when the family moved back to Chicago, Cornell and Shelton chose to remain in Seattle – the two were inseparable and forever looked out for one another.
Cornell loved his family and friends, and enjoyed laughing and sharing with everyone he knew. He never failed to present you with a gift and kind words.
For everyone that he made smile with his cheerfulness, for all the family and friends he affected with his huge heart and generosity, his spirit will live forever. We will miss him immensely.
Cornell is survived by his mother Doris Alexander, Aunt Edith and Uncle Willie Ransom, of Chicago, IL; brother Shelton Alexander and his wife AngaLee (Angel) Alexander of Lynnwood, WA, their children Shelton, Lamar, Alex, Maikaru and Antonia; sister June Alexander and her husband Lance Parker and their daughter Erin, of Chicago, IL; cousin Cheryle Ransom, numerous other relatives, his Humphrey House family in Seattle, WA and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his longtime partner and confidant, LeAnn.
