Feb. 2, 1949 – Nov. 6, 2024
Daniel Robert Birks, 75, went to be with Jesus on Nov. 6, 2024, in Everett, WA, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born Feb. 2, 1949, to his mother, Audrey, and father, Ariel Birks in Everett, WA. When he was two years old, his father married his second wife, Alice Jacobsen, and she became a real and loving mother to him.
Dan married his first wife, Rebecca, and they had a daughter, Amy. Dan loved his country, and he volunteered for the Army, serving his time in the war in Vietnam. He married his second wife, Karla. They had three sons: Jason, Justin, and Jeremy. Then, in December of 1980, he met Kathy Hangen through Parents without Partners. They got engaged in March and married on June 19th, 1981. Kathy had two daughters, Kristen and Jennifer, from her first marriage. Ariel was born to Dan and Kathy the day before their wedding anniversary in 1986.
Dan spent most of his life as a ready-mix driver for Cadman concrete. He was a student of karate, an artist, a screen printer, and he owned a Harley. For the last four years of his life, he suffered with Chron’s disease, IBS, and other conditions that kept him in constant pain.
Dan’s adventurous heart touched many lives. Known for his artistic soul, his sense of humor, his infamous leer, his constant search for truth, and his deep faith in God, we are overjoyed that he is with God, his Father, his Lord, Jesus Christ, and the precious Holy Spirit.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Kathy, and his children: Kristen, Amy, Jennifer, Jason, Justin, Jeremy, and Ariel; his sister, Kathy Foley (husband, John, deceased); his brother, Gary (wife, Ann); and many beloved grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Brookdale Arbor Place, 12806 Bothell-Everett Hwy, Dec. 7 at 2 pm.
