David W. McCain, son of Linda S. and George L. McCain, was born August 4, 1966 in San Antonio, Texas. After a courageous six-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, David passed away in Seattle, Washington on December 28, 2015.
After graduation from Dimond High School in Anchorage, Alaska, David joined the United States Navy. He served for nearly ten years, including tours on the Midway and Nimitz air craft carriers, and Barbers Point Naval Air Station, Hawaii. Settling in Anchorage, he worked for the federal government in vehicle operations on Joint Base Elmendorf/Richardson (JBER) – a job that made each day special for him. In his spare-time he enjoyed video games, reading and all things related to the SEAHAWKS. David was strong in his faith and love for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in June 2015, David was moved to University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle for treatment – much of it experimental. He always showed gratitude towards his medical team and a positive attitude. As he realized the final outcome, he took comfort in the thought that his battle would help others as they faced the same type of cancer.
