Doreen E. Marchetti passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2011 after her fourth courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on June 8, 1922 she immigrated to Port Angeles, Washington as a young child with her parents, William and Florence Watts and her 2 siblings, Douglas and Fay.
Doreen graduated from Roosevelt High School in Port Angeles in 1940 went on to attend business school there and worked for the courthouse and highway department.
Moving to Seattle in 1950 she went to work for Cascade Heating and Air Conditioning as a secretary and bookkeeper for over 30 years, in addition, working during income tax seasons, for Jerry Kailor Bookkeeping.
Shortly after marrying John B. Marchetti in 1981 she retired and they moved to Woodburn, Oregon. There she enjoyed golf, traveling, dancing, playing the organ and also volunteered at the Woodburn Chamber of Commerce. While there she was offered a job, and a career change, to work for Cascade Park Retirement Home she worked there for 7 years starting as a Marketing Director and advancing to Assistant Manager and Marketing Director.
After 9 years in Oregon they moved back to Washington State settling in the Silverlake area for 14 years. Upon moving into Cascadian Place Retirement Community in late 2003 she continued her active involvement in organizing most of the evening games and volunteering on various committees.
Doreen is survived by her husband John; her daughter Cheryl(Sherry & Dave) Ellis of Woodinville; son Rod (Brenda) Garrett of Kenmore; grandson Matthew Garrett; 3 step granddaughters and 7 great grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at Evergreen-Washelli at a later date.
