Please join me in prayer for the repose of the soul of my Mom, Dorothy Dykkesten. It is with deep gratitude that her home going was so peaceful and gentle. During many times in her life she was disabled by panic and anxiety attacks, yet her last 18 months in Renton have been calm and she has been at peace. We shared many smiles and a few laughs even as the dementia continued it’s destruction to the end. And as she always promised, she nearly always knew me. 
I also ask for your prayers for the extraordinary couple who provided Mom’s care with the utmost respect, dignity and compassion. Adela and Sebastian loved Mom as well as I did. I will be forever and always grateful to have such a special couple in our lives, and I will consider them as family always. (That’s Adela in the “selfie” photo with Mom.)
And for myself, most of you know I’ve been devoted to caring for Mom for nearly 8 years, so this is a very bittersweet time for me. It’s undoubtedly been the hardest thing I will do in this life, but through it all there have been many blessings for us both as we continued to learn and grow together. I will miss her terribly as I now step out in faith to learn what is next for me. The comfort and support I receive from my friends, my church family, and my ministry to love mercy and do justice for our poor and homeless will buoy me, and help guide me along the way. I am always so very grateful for you and your prayers.
