Duane Fred Griffin

Duane Fred Griffin (Fred) passed away suddenly March 18, 2016 at his home in Issaquah, Washington.  Fred was born to Janice Garrison Griffin (later Fravel) and Everett Griffin, January 27, 1955 in New Hampton, Iowa.

After his mother pased away in 1961 he and his siblings lived with his mother’s parents, Fred and Genevieve Garrison.  After they passed away, he moved in with Robert and Willa Haseley who became his foster parents and supported him throughout the high school years.  He graduated in 1973 from Simi Valley High School in Simi Valley, California.

With his family’s encouragement he enlisted in the Navy in 1973.  The Navy trained him in jet and helicopter engine mechanics and was stationed in Yuma, Arizona.  In 1977 Fred finished his tour of duty with a National Defense Service Medal.

After spending some time with his sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Robert Haseley, Fred moved to Seattle, Washington.  He worked as a cab driver for several years and lastly for Puget Sound Cab company as the dispatch manager where he was recently laid off.

Fred never married and enjoyed his life camping, fishing and visiting friends and family.  He loved horses, laughed at his crazy cats, and became proficient in computers.  He always had a positive outlook on life.  He enjoyed driving a cab and meeting many friendly people.
