
Edgar J. Ives
Edgar J. Ives “Ed” passed away peacefully on March 26th at age 82. He was born in Spokane, WA to Edgar W. Ives and Josephine Lazia.
He served in the National Guard and was activated in the Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Eastern State Hospital as a maximum security guard and then as a LPN. He moved to Seattle in 1970 and went to work at Northwest Hospital, retired there as an RN. In retirement, he worked 15 years as a crossing guard for Seattle Public Schools. He worked at the Kingdome and Century Link Field for 20 years and at Safeco Field for 6 years as event staff.
He had many hobbies and interests, his favorite was his music. He played guitar in various country bands. He loved to bike from Seattle to Spokane. Skiing and traveling were on his list of fun things to do.
Ed was preceded in death by one daughter, Theresa, and three siblings, William, Albert, and Louise.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia, four daughters, Linda, Diana, Lori and Sheri, three sons, Tom, Ernie and Steven, four siblings, Gene, Roger, Clarence, and Sharon, many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services, open to all, at Holyrood Cemetary on Friday, April 1st at 10 AM. Reception to follow and to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations go to Providence Hospice of Seattle, NW Hospital or a charity of your choosing.
