E
dward James Snyder was born on November 23,1931 in Chicago, Illinois. Patricia Eileen (McNamara) Snyder was born on September 29, 1934 in Seattle, Washington. Together, they went home to be with Jesus on February 26, 2022 in Seattle, Washington.
It was while Ed was stationed with the Coast Guard in Seattle that he met Pat, who was a volunteer pianist at the Christian Servicemen’s Center. He asked if she could play Clair de Lune, which she did with flirtatious finesse. It was love at first sight and they were married on September 9, 1955.
Ed was an elementary school teacher for thirty years and left a lasting impact on his many students. He enjoyed spending his summers building houses and traveling with his family. Ed acted as worship leader in their church for many years, also singing in the choir. He loved performing in local theater groups, sports, reading, and was a talented craftsman/carpenter.
Pat was administrative assistant at their church and later worked for a retirement home. She loved opening her home to others, led a women’s Bible study for years, was an excellent seamstress, cook, and accomplished pianist.
With their humor, generosity, and love for God, Ed and Pat touched the lives of all who met them. They actively served in their local church for many decades. They lovingly raised their children, supporting them in every way. They are survived by their daughter, Susan Snyder, son Brad Snyder (Erin). Grandchildren André (Harmonie), Adam, Amy, Evan (Heather), Ellie and Marissa. Great grandchildren Ava, Owen and Emerson.
Ed and Pat leave behind a legacy of love, serving God and others, and, above all else, perseverance.
