Fabrice Miguel
Fabrice Yves Joseph Miguel passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020, after a two-year-long battle with cancer. Fabrice will be forever remembered by his wife Agnieszka, daughter Zoey, father Alain, sister Emmanuelle, brother Pierre, nieces Marianne and Mathilde, numerous members of his extended family, and many friends.
Fabrice was born on June 5, 1968 in Marseille, France to Michèle Miguel Delvarre and Alain Miguel. Fabrice spent his childhood in the town of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, in the south of France. His family had a great network of friends and the five of them often traveled including abroad. Every year, they also visited Alicante, Spain where Alain’s family lived.
Fabrice moved to Avignon when he was 13 years old. He stayed there until he completed high school. Then, after three years of intense math and physics preparatory classes at Lycee Thiers in Marseille, Fabrice was admitted to the prestigious Ecole Nationale Superieure De L’Aeronautique at De L’Espace (SUPAERO) in Toulouse, France. He received his diploma in aeronautical and space systems in 1992. Fabrice was a popular and active student – he served as a president of the student association, organized the annual school galas, and was an editor of the student paper. He also played trombone in a school marching band and did paragliding and kayaking.
Fabrice came to the US in 1992 to work for AlliedSignal in Fort Lauderdale, FL as a software engineer. This is where he met and later married Agnieszka. They moved to Seattle, WA in 1996 where Fabrice joined Crane Aerospace as a software lead. In 2008, he advanced to a software engineering manager position. Fabrice worked for Crane Aerospace for over 23 years. His colleagues appreciated Fabrice’s dedication, passion, and attention to detail as well as his frankness, sense of humor, and mentorship of junior coworkers.
Fabrice and Agnieszka’s daughter, Zoey Lily Miguel was born in 2008. Fabrice was a great father. He showered his daughter with attention and toys; came up with elaborate bedtime stories and funny dad jokes; and enjoyed watching movies and reading books together.
Fabrice was a true Renaissance man. He enjoyed his life through hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, traveling, reading, writing stories and poems, drawing, learning languages, playing the guitar, brewing beer, walking Puzzle dog, and cooking. He loved to bring people together: Fabrice’s friends and family will always remember his famous dinner parties with an abundance of appetizers, scrumptious main dishes, and unique cocktails.
During the last couple of years, while bravely fighting his disease, Fabrice cherished reconnecting with his childhood friends and family in France. He also loved spending time with his daughter while teaching her French, sharing memories from his well lived life and facts about his ancestors, and discussing physics, astronomy, and math.
Fabrice will be missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. Due to COVID-19 and the international locations of his family and friends, Celebration of Fabrice’s Life will be held online via Zoom on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 11am PST.
