Francisco Antonio Castillos

Tony Castillos

Tony Castillos was born on October 21, 1930 to Francisco and Carrie Alice. He passed in peace on November 18, 2015. Tony was raised in West Virginia, joined the US Navy where he flew in fighter planes in the Korean War and then graduated from Ohio State University with degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics.

Tony worked hard to provide for his family and gave his children all the resources in his power to succeed in life. He was very generous with his family.

Tony worked for many years designing electrical systems for airplanes at Boeing and then certification of airplane electrical systems at the FAA. Tony thrived on discussing projects, building on team members’ comments and trying to nurture the best in everyone including himself. He retired because of declining health in January of 2014 at 83 years of age. He had planned to live to be 100 and work the whole time. Tony loved his work.

Tony CastillosTony’s agile mind never rested until he suffered a stroke, but prior to that he still had the curiosity of a young child or explorer. When he found a new interest, whether it be philosophy, an event in history, a person of historical significance, or photography, he would research the subject and scour the internet looking for more books to help him get more insight on the subject. Because of his lifelong sense of curiosity and love of reading he could eloquently discuss just about any subject.

There is an old Irish saying, “ How blessed we are to cry so dearly.” Tony touched us all so greatly, but our loss would not be so if he had not been such a good man.
