Frank Glaser

Frank passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 13, 2015 following a sudden illness. He was surrounded by his family.

Frank was born September 3, 1956 in Toronto, Canada, and moved to the Seattle area in 1961. Frank graduated from Sammamish High School in 1974. Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the Marine Corp. and was honorably discharged with a rank of Sargent in 1978. Frank then began working as a journeyman machinist for Glaser Manufacturing, Inc. His attention to detail and creativity was of great value. In June of 1984 Frank joined the Redmond Fire Department retiring as a Captain in 2009. During his tenure at the Redmond Fire Department Frank served as a Recruit Instructor, Union President, and was a lead negotiator with the City of Redmond during Fire Department Union Contract negotiations. He was also a member of the USAR Team, and traveled to aid in search and rescue efforts following Hurricane Katrina. His dedication to the community did not stop when his shift was over. If someone was in need, he was always there.

In life Frank was a whirlwind of action and energy from the moment he put his feet on the floor in the morning until late at night. He was passionate about many things and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding his Harley, racing around in his Porsche, snowboarding, gardening, inventing, building trails and cutting trees on his property, as well as hiking. He climbed Mount. Rainier three times, and loved the view of the mountain he had at his home. He also enjoyed bicycling, and completed the Seattle to Portland in one day. Growing up he participated in trials motorcycle riding, and continued to race around the trails he created at his home in Buckley, WA. He loved his grandson, Jaden, deeply and always looked forward to their time together. Frank will be remembered for his drive, passion, integrity, honor, strength, courage, focus, and love.

Frank is survived by his parents John and Irma Glaser; daughter, Jennifer D. Glaser (Jason Becker); son, Zachary S. Glaser; their mother, Sally Glaser; and grandson, Jaden O. Becker. Frank was preceded in death by his brother John K. Glaser.
