Frank N. Young III

Frank Young III

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frank N. Young III on Wednesday, August 16th, 2017. He bravely fought brain cancer for three years, living each day with a positive attitude and a determination to live life to the fullest.  Frank did not let cancer define who he was.  He was born on November 21, 1967 in Seattle to Frank and Susan Young.

Frank attended the College of Idaho where he met his wife, Jennifer, of 27 years and graduated with a degree in finance.  He continued his education earning a second degree at the University of Washington in the Building Construction Management program in 1990.  From there, he began his successful 25 year career with Peter Kiewit Sons’, Inc.  Frank was a dedicated, hardworking employee who received great satisfaction in building and contributing to a job well done.

He was a devoted husband, father and son.  A true family man through and through.  Frank was a loyal friend and confidant who enjoyed lively conversation and good natured debates.  He had a lifelong passion for skiing, tackling the most challenging of runs with an unparalleled skill and ability.  It was a thing of grace and beauty to witness.  Fly fishing was another of his passions.  Frank was an avid Husky fan who enjoyed Husky football as well as all things Husky.

Frank had a big personality with a large presence.  He was an intelligent man with a wonderful sense of humor that at times could have been said to be on the mischievous side.  Some may have seen the twinkle in his eye or experienced one of his many pranks personally.  He had a love of good food (preferably homemade “with the love put in”) and strong coffee.  The Grateful Dead was his music of choice from early on comprising the bulk of his playlist.

It is impossible to adequately describe the many facets and attributes that made Frank who he was.  He had a connection and lasting impact on many people throughout his life.  His death has left an enormous void which can never be filled.  He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Frank and Jennifer

Frank is survived by his wife Jennifer Young, daughter Hailey Young, son Nolan Young, parents Frank and Susan Young, sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Joseph Hageman, his in-laws, many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.

The family is thankful for the excellent, loving care Frank received from his doctors, his Evergreen Hospice nurse, social worker, aids and the Evergreen Hospice Care Center.  We are also eternally grateful to our many friends for the outpouring of love and support.

Despite the ravages of cancer, Frank’s thoughtful act of organ donation resulted in two successful cornea transplants.

A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 1st, 2017 at the Denny Mountain Lodge at Alpental.
