Born to Peter and Catherine Elting, June 18, 1947 in Elgin, IL.
Died after a 10 year battle with cancer on November 27, 2019. He was at home with his family at the time of his passing.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Janice; and two children, Jared Elting and Alaina Elting Brittingham. And; by the apple of his eye, his 17 month old grandson Liam Elting Brittingham! They were mischief together!
Also survived by one brother; Bruce and two sisters; Cathy and Sarah.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and two younger brothers; Peter and Mark Elting.
George graduated from Hoquiam,WA high school in 1966. He then enlisted in the US Army and served through 1969. After discharge, he attended the University of WA and received his degree in psychology.
He was actively involved in the first “Burien Arts and Parks” committee.
For 20 + years he volunteered as the assistant staging manager and then head staging manager for the Burien 4th of July Parade.
George was very active in on-line support groups. He was known as “justgeo1”. He supported people all over the world. The Diabetes and Thyroid Cancer support groups were his favorite.
His other passion was Elting Family Genealogy. He would help anyone’ who contacted him, figure out how they were related.
There will be a memorial for him on Sunday December 15th, from 2 to 4 at Highline Christen Church, in Burien, WA.

In late spring his family will take his ashes to the Jacob Elting Burial Ground in New Paltz, NY. He will be with his parents, grand-parents, great-grandparents and many ancestors back through the early 1800’s.
