Heaven welcomed a new Angel at 8:35pm on Thursday, November 20, 2014 as our amazing Husband/Dad/Poppy/Friend, Gordon A. Sayler, received his Wings. He was 83 years old. Gordon fought an unbelievable fight for close to 10 years with Heart Disease, Kidney Stones, Diabetes, Parkinson’s, and Melanoma, all while keeping his faith, sense of humor and love for friends and family.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Gordon was born in Sacramento, California on March 27, 1931 to Adolph and Millie Sayler. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Trudy and their dog Scooter (7), in Bellevue, Washington; daughter Cheryl Kritsonis, son-in-law John, grandkids: Kendra(17), Alec(13), Jayden(10) and grand-dog Zeus(2), in Bellevue, Washington; daughter Lauryn Sayler Divers, son-in-law Tim, grandkids: Julia(10) and Dylan(6), in Altadena, California. Brother Norm Sayler in Truckee, California, and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Sacramento State University, Gordon joined the Air Force, serving in Korea. After serving his country, he then moved to Seattle and received his Maters Degree in Psychiatric Social Work from the University of Washington. He met and married Trudy shortly thereafter.
Gordon was the director of therapy for the Griffin Home for Boys (Friends of Youth.) He was the Director of and helped to formulate the Federal Drug Program for the City of Renton. He then went on to conduct training seminars on “Personal and Professional Effectiveness” for many major companies including The Boeing Company. Several major universities contracted him to conduct many seminars throughout the US. He also conducted these seminars for many youth groups and churches.
Gordon and Trudy joined The First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue in 1960 and were active in leading Youth Groups, were Ruling Elders on Session and involved on many other committees as well. They also gave numerous talks for “The Marriage Encounter”. Gordon has always devoted himself to Trudy, his daughters and grandchildren. He was an avid reader, emailer and always enjoyed a round of golf every chance he got.
A “Celebration of Gordon’s Life” will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2:00PM at The First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, 1717 Bellevue Way, NE, Bellevue, WA 98004, #425-454-3082.
