Gordon W. Green passed away on July 3, 2015, in Seattle, Washington.
He was born in Wilbur, Washington, on April 19, 1926, to Ralph A. Green and Viola W. Green (Miller). Gordy grew up in Wilbur where he was chosen as valedictorian for his graduating class.
He enlisted and served in the Navy during World War II. After his military service he attended the University of Washington. After graduation he worked with Associated Press for six years, writing and editing news reports. After a brief stint in Boeing public relations, he started his career with the University of Washington Athletic Department; where he held various positions – Publicity Director, Events Director, and others. For about ten years he served as Ticket Manager for Husky sports and an assistant Athletic Director under Jim Owens. For that decade he was the community face of Husky sports. He then moved on to become the first Ticket Manager for the Seattle Seahawks before moving onto a job with Boeing Computer Services. Gordy will be remembered by scores of friends from his work and favorite watering holes for his kindness, sense of humor, and intelligence.
He was preceded in death by his brother George Green and his sister Gloria Klein. He is survived by two nieces and seven nephews. Gordy would want you to know how much he loved Wilbur and his Huskies. (He would also want you to know that that he hit a hole in one in 1973 with a 4 wood at Mount Si.) He passed quietly and without pain. Gordy will be greatly missed.
