Helen Ruth Lawrence (Scone), 81
Helen “Mimi” Lawrence, the beloved matriarch of our family passed away May 25th, 2015, in her West Coast home in Kirkland, WA, surrounded by her three daughters and family.
Helen was born on June 3, 1933 in Chester, PA and grew up in Trainer, PA. She graduated from Ridley Park High School, in Ridley Park, PA and Goldey-Beacom Business School, in Wilmington, DE. Norman “Bud” Lawrence, her husband of 54 years, was the love of her life. They raised their family in Newtown Square, PA, where she and Bud ran their family business, building custom homes, overseeing the restoration of historical buildings, and managing rental properties. She was also a realtor. Together they retired to Ocean City, NJ in 1995 to spend many happy years. It was there that they welcomed all of their grandchildren for wonderful summers. She missed Bud terribly after he passed away in 2007; but lived independently in the home they built by the shore, enjoying her cherished friends and family, including the companionship of her three “grand” dogs. She is most remembered for her unconditional love.
Helen is survived by daughters Sharon Lawrence, Kim Brown and Penny Lawrence; sons-in-law Tom Uren, Paul Brown and Jay Pine; brother Stephen Scone, III (Helen); grandchildren Marty (Liz) and Nick Uren; Jeff (Varina), Adam (Heidi) and Jaclyn Brown; Aleah (Josh), Hannah, Rosie and Dakotah Lawrence-Pine; great-granddaughters Madi, Taylor and Stella. In addition to Bud, she was pre-deceased by her parents, Stephen and Evelyn Scone, and her sister Evelyn Gargano.
A celebration of Helen’s life is planned for Saturday, October 3rd, 2015, at 1 PM, at the Bellevue Tavern, 7 S Main St, Cape May Court House, NJ (609-463-1738). Please let the family know if you plan to attend by emailing to helensconelawrence@gmail.com.
