Herbert L. Tollisen passed away peacefully in his home on August 26, 2008, at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Florence May, two daughters, Susan (Johnny) Walker of Monroe, Janet (Richard) Schweiter of Marysville, and a grandson, Edward Walker of Monroe.
Herb was born March 2, 1922, to Bertha and Herbert L Tollisen, Sr. in Portland, Oregon, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1943 with a degree in engineering and while at OSU was awarded honoraries in mathematics, engineering, and mechanical engineering.
Herb worked for Pan Am before joining the Navy. After the war, he started working for Boeing and in 1984 he retired from Boeing after 38 years of service. The last 22 years he held the position of Manager of Flight Test Instrumentation. He enjoyed working for Boeing and enjoyed the people he worked with.
During their retirement, Herb and May enjoyed spending extended time in Hawaii; a place they also called home. They also traveled the U.S. in their fifth wheel trailer.
Herb also loved airplanes, golf, crossword puzzles, and anything technical.
We will forever miss his wit and wisdom.
At his request, no services will be held. His cremated remains will be scattered on Puget Sound. Please sign our guest book at http://bartonfuneral.com/category/obituaries/.
