Ian Alistair Robertson

Ian Alistair Robertson resident of Redmond, WA passed away July 8, 2014 at Evergreen Health Hospice in Kirkland, WA after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Ian was born March 25, 1939 in Premier, British Columbia, Canada to Alistair and Maxine Mellish Robertson.  He moved to Ketchikan, Alaska at the age of 3 and attended Main School and Ketchikan High School.  He lived there continuously until he joined the Air Force in 1956.  He took Basic Training at Parks Air Force Base in California and the was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Witchita Falls, Texas, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska and Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

He married Ann Louise Gragg, July 2, 1958 in Boise, Idaho and lived there until 1964 when they moved to Ketchikan.  Their two children, Shawna and Brian were born in Ketchikan.  While in Ketchikan he had numerous jobs which included operating Westside Chevron Service, Robertson Motors and Scottie’s Menswear.  Ian and lifetime friend Al Johnson operated the Standard Oil Facility in Wrangell, Alaska.

Ian moved to the Seattle, WA area in 1969 and was usually affiliated with selling cars and boats.  He owned the Woodinville Auto Auction for a time.

On June 10, 1972 he married Nancy Fishe in Reno, Nevada.  Son, Shane arrived in their family the next year.

Ian was known for his sharp sense of humor and laugh. Everyone has an “Ian” story.  He loved boating, fishing and family gatherings.  One year he took the family from Seattle to Ketchikan in their boat.

He is survived by his widow, Nancy at home in Redmond, WA, daughter, Shawna Starr, Ridgefield, CT, sons, Brian (Carol) Robertson of Carnation, WA and Shane Robertson of Ballard, WA.  Grandchildren: Kelsea, Taylor and Logan Starr of Ridgefield, CT and Hunter, Duncan and Alexis Robertson of Carnation, WA, Sister, Heather Robertson of Des Moines, WA and niece, Alana (Ewan) Campbell and grandniece, Avery of Burien, WA, Brother-in-law, Mike (Marsha) Gragg of Boise, ID and numerous cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Al Robertson in 1975 and mother, Maxine Mellish Robertson in 2005.

The Celebration of Life will be held on July 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Louise Parish Catholic Church, 141 156th Ave. SE, Bellevue, WA 98007. Private family burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery, Covington, WA.
