On Tuesday August 23rd, 2022, Jack Edward Wallace passed away at the age of 72.
Jack was born on April 5th, 1950 in Creston, B.C. to Clyde and Louise Wallace. He and his family lived all over the Pacific Northwest finally settling on Mercer Island. Jack received his BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington and entered the aerospace industry shortly after working at Boeing for the majority of his career.
Jack’s passion for exploring and being outdoors started in 1984, then quickly turned from a hobby into an obsession. If Jack was not at work, he could be found in the mountains hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, climbing or basically doing any activity outside… rain or shine. Always wearing his green John Deere hat, his trail name fittingly became “John Deere”. Known for pushing himself past his limits, he traveled around the world to Europe, Africa, and South America to explore the world through the outdoors. He hiked amazing places like the Peruvian Andes, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and the Pacific Crest Trail, and skied throughout Europe and much of the Western U.S.
Jack loved to do the New York Times crossword puzzles, played scrabble, chess and watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every night. He enjoyed listening to many genres of music and was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. His favorite show was the Big Bang Theory.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Clyde, and his mother, Louise. He is survived by his sister Bette, niece Ashley, nephew John, grand-nephew Bodie, and close friend Linda.
