James Holzman

On Saturday August 12, 2023, James (Jim) Leroy Holzman, loving husband and father of two daughters, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 80. Jim was born on September 21, 1942, in Wichita Kansas to Joseph and Arlene Holzman, the eldest son of seven siblings. Jim attended grade school at Mary Magdalen Catholic School in Wichita, KN and graduated from St. John Vianney Seminary High School in Elkhart, NE in 1960.

Jim moved to California with his family attending Long Beach College for one year and then joined the United States Air Force. Jim was deployed in Alaska and in Europe, where he met his wife to be Virginia Atkin. James and Virginia were married on October 19, 1968 in England and celebrated almost 54 years of marriage together.

They moved back to the United States to settle in Kirkland, WA. They had two daughters Monique Raymond and Sasha Richards. Jim started his career at Boeing and worked there for well over 40 years, becoming such a valued employee they did not want him to retire. Jim was a dedicated hard worker and retired at 77 years old from Boeing in June of 2020.

Jim was a loving father and cared for his family with much kindness over his life. He had an incredible love for the game of soccer. He coached for over 20 years and served as Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association President. He carried a long legacy of great coaching receiving recognition for Coach of the Year and shared his passion with his daughter Monique in coaching teams together.
Jim loved traveling to new places with his family, keeping up on the latest gadgets, watching sports including soccer, Seahawks and Formula 1 car racing, spending time with his grandkids, going on crazy adventures with his wife Ginny, taking care of his cats, and he was always up for a chat over a good meal with a glass of wine.

James was preceded in death by his father and mother Joseph and Arlene Holzman, his wife Virginia Holzman, and his brothers Joey and Leo Holzman. He is survived by his two daughters Monique and Sasha, his sisters Jolene, Julitta, Jackie and Joan, and his lovely grandchildren Madeline, Henry, Bianca and Livia as well as his two cats Zeke and Willow.

James was laid to rest at the Woodinville Cemetery on Saturday September 23, 2023 with a quiet family service followed by a celebration of life at The Heathman Hotel in Kirkland, WA
