Jane Anne Newby, 54 years young, of Renton, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by love, on February 19, 2016. She fought hard for 7 months to come back from a traumatic brain injury, caused by an acute asthma attack.
Jane was a wonderful, loving, devoted, fun, caring, giving, protective, affectionate, spouse and soul mate to her wife, Lynn Wolfe, of 24 years. Jane loved Lynn with all her heart and adored their sweet bulldog Bella, affectionately called “My Bella Mia”. She spoke of her often and enjoyed taking her fishing at the lake where Bella and Jane could not wait to pull that first fish in. Jane loved her family and always looked out for each of us. Her parents Ronald and Dorothy, sister Debby and brother-in-law Steve, sister Gail, brother Mike, brother Mark and sister-in-law Kimberlee, nieces Kendra (Robert), Jenna, Krysta, Cherish, Savannah, nephews Brett, Brian, Justin, Colton and great-nephews Caleb and Liam, will miss Jane dearly, but will remember her gift of making us laugh and taking time to help or just listen. She showed each of us how much she cared and wanted the best for us. What a difference she made in our lives!
Jane was born on March 31, 1961 in Wichita, Kansas. She moved with her family in 1967 to Westminster, CO, grew up also in Broomfield and Northglenn, CO. Jane graduated from Northglenn High School in 1979. She lettered in basketball and volleyball and was team captain. She was also a member of the golf team where her love for the sport began,
She enlisted in the United States Army in 1980 and attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. After basic training she went to Fort Benning in Georgia to train with the 82nd Airborne Jump School, she was then stationed at Fort Sam Houston in Texas where she became a Medical Specialist. Jane’s final station was at Madigan Hospital on the grounds of Fort Lewis in Tacoma where she served until her enlistment was up.
Jane found her career passion in life as a Massage Therapist and successful business owner. She practiced for 22 years, of late in Issaquah. She helped and healed many people over those years with her gifted hands and therapeutic touch. Jane poured herself into doing the best work for her clients and they in return remained loyal and really came to know and love her.
Jane and Lynn met in 1992 and began building a very happy life together. Their first residence was in West Seattle, they then moved to Issaquah, bought their first home in Maple Valley, then made a final move to their beautiful home in the Woodside Subdivision of Renton. They enjoyed life by camping, fishing, boating, water skiing, trail biking, hiking, site seeing, horseback riding, catching sun on the beach, spending a significant time outdoors with their boxers (of late) Sam, Madison and Chance, and traveling as often as they could to Colorado, Arizona, California, Alaska, Canada, and Hawaii. Jane was an amazing gardener and she and Lynn worked hard together landscaping their home. Her favorite seasons of each year were Spring and Summer, when she enjoyed hours tending her garden of beautiful flowers.
“Bobbie” Smith was Jane’s best friend in life for 28 years and she loved her like family. She and Jane had countless good times together filled with humor. Bobbie said of Jane, “she was the best friend ever and was there for her no matter what, she would do anything for you, loving, giving and caring”.
Jane was very proud to be a 28 year recovered alcoholic. She volunteered to help others by becoming a counselor for many recovering and helped them to a life of sobriety. She kept her collection of sobriety coins she received each year as a reminder of her journey and her ability to overcome her most difficult times.
Our Jane will be fondly remembered for her beautiful smile, her laughter, silliness, many loving ways, strength, intelligence, her excitement and dedication as a loyal fan of the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning, Jane’s way to keep the conversation going with the many stories of her life experiences, friendship, her energy, the ability to really live life and do good for others, her love for entertaining and cooking, especially her chocolate cake, the time she always took to care for her wife, mother, her family and friends. Jane was the type of individual that truly left a mark on your heart. Simply put, she was the best!
