Dr. Janet Elaine Mules died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 19, 2014. Dr. Mules is survived by her stepchildren: Michael J Gerber, Gabrielle M Gerber (Dr. Richard Belkin), Stephen P Gerber (Theresa Spencer), Judith M Gerber (Bruce Goss); by step-grandchildren Jori E Belkin, Lauren E Gerber, Christyn T Gerber, and by many friends and colleagues.
She was the only child of Russell and Ruth Mules, born in Baltimore on January 19th, 1935.
Dr. Mules led an amazingly adventurous life. She attended Friends School in Baltimore, Bryn Mawr College, School of Medicine at the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins University, Duke University, and the University of Washington. She practiced psychiatry in Washington, Kansas, Colorado and Alaska. She spent more than a decade serving as a psychiatrist for the US Foreign Service, and was stationed in South Africa, Mexico, India, and Austria. She was called back to Africa for special services following the US Embassy bombings of 1998. Her last medical practice was in Coupeville, WA.
Janet traveled extensively as a State Department psychiatrist, and for leisure. She had many friends and acquaintances all around the world who will miss her wit and wisdom.
