Jean Holden
Jean was born on September 30, 1926 in Gackle, North Dakota to Benhart & Helmi Parvey. She was the 4th of 5 children and lived the longest. When she was 13 years old the family moved to the Seattle area, where she lived for the rest of her life. She loved the Pacific Northwest in its weather, plant life, ocean beaches, and all its native inhabitants, including huckleberries, sword ferns, and razor clams.
She worked in the steno pool at the Jet Propulsion Labortories and much later as a waitress at The Spaghetti House in Lake City. She married John Holden in 1952 and they had 2 children, Corrine Holden (David Done) of Ocean Shores and Russell Holden of Everett.
After she and John parted ways, she soon met and spent the rest of her days with her life partner, Don Plasch. One of Don’s nieces, Denise Sloate, became a good friend who went to many alternative healing lectures with her and tended to her unceasingly the rest of her life.
She collected many friends over the years always in out-of-the-norm places like Stargazers Metaphysical Bookstore in Bellevue. One such friend was Danna Baum, who spent time with her every week for the lasts several years of her life and called her daily in her final days.
She is survived by nieces and nephews in the Dakotas and numerous places in Washington state. To all of them she was their favorite Aunt Jean.
A celebration of life will be held some time later this year when family can gather together in her honor.
