John Eusek
John Eusek passed away at Evergreen Hospice on July 22, 2023 from a long bout of Dementia. He died peacefully with exceptional care from the Hospice Team. He was surrounded by his loving family.
John was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Rose Marie and John Paul Eusek Sr. John Sr. immigrated from Yugoslavia when he was a child. John had two sisters, Mary Ellen of Colorado, Rose Mary of Wyoming, and a brother, the late James Eusek. He treasured memories of his parents, aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins. Many are reminiscent of playing with his cousin Patti pretending to be Nuns and Priests. John was an alter boy at St. Cyril and Methodius, following in the footsteps of his older cousins, Art and Ted. Food was always important to John. He liked everything and anything but especially his mother’s Slovenian dishes and Potica.
After John graduated from Rock Springs High School, he attended school at Denver General and graduated as a Radiology Technologist. He moved to Montana and later California. John carried special memories of his father when they built an addition to John and Laurie’s home in California. It was in those special six weeks of working together that John truly realized the final word was his father’s. They both had a remarkable sense of humor.
John and Laurie moved to Woodinville, Washington where he lived forty years. John worked as the Administrative Director of Radiology at Virginia Mason Clinic for twenty-seven years. The last part of his tenure, John was the Administrative Director and mentor in the Kaizen Promotion Office. After retirement, John consulted in LEAN for John Black Associates in Canada, and consulted independently in Washington and Florida.
John enjoyed spending time at their weekend home on Whidbey Island for many years. Later, he and his wife Laurie traveled in their motor home throughout Canada and parts of the United Stated before John was diagnosed with Dementia. John’s favorite pastime was working with wood, turning on his lathe, and reading about history.
Laurie received loving support from all the family during his illness. Eddie and Clarissa rebuilt the deck and garden shed while trying to include John and keep him safe. Eddie changed various features around the house for John’s safety. This was a key part of John’s ability to stay home as long as he did. Daughter Angie and Granddaughter Erika were an integral part of his daily care that enabled him to be home until the final weeks.
John is survived by wife Laurie, and children, Todd, Dena, Angie and Edmun. Grandchildren include Kelcie, Erika, Cole, Victoria, Kylie, Tess and Jenna. He had three great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
John will be buried at Woodinville Cemetery following a graveside service for the family.
