Kathleen Leingang
Kathleen Leingang passed away on October 1, 2021, at her home in Kirkland WA, at the age of 85. Born in Ballard, Washington August 27, 1936, to Andrew and Dora (Murphy) Keough, Kathleen graduated Holy Angels High School in 1954. On November 10, 1962, Kathleen married her sweetheart Robert Leingang, and celebrated a loving 56-year marriage, until his death in 2018. They have 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Our matriarch, Kathleen, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her faith and family and intertwined the two in every aspect of her everyday life. She believed in living each day to its fullest and in God’s footsteps. Kathleen was an excellent cook, but she loved to bake, and if she knew you loved something she would go out of her way to make sure she made it for you. She would spend weeks preparing and baking for her holiday cookie delivery. She would make up trays for her family and hand delivery or send them out of state, so everyone knew how much she appreciated them in her life.
Kathleen loved to laugh and had a silly side to her that would often lead to pranks, usually at her husband’s expense, but he was a good sport. She loved to rhyme words together and it was just so funny what she would come up. Kathleen’s sayings were on the quirky side like “don’t take any wooden nickels” and “keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole”. Kathleen was a devout Catholic at St. John Vianney Church in Kirkland, 41 years. She was very active in the parish community with the building committee, auction, picnics and landscaping committee. Her passion was in her garden and growing flowers and the veggies for her salads that we ate every night. I don’t think she ever met a flower she did not like but she really doted to her roses.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Rob (Vivian), Greg, Melinda (Marc); her grandchildren, Justine (Serge), Taylor, Chelsea, Connor, Andrew, and Dora; her great grand-children Hayden, Rhys, Parker and Madeline; her sibling Pat Keough; her long-time family and friends LaVerne Flonteny, Patty Druxman and all her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved Bob, her parents, Gordon Keough (Connie), Doreen Keough (Karl), Peggy Keough (Ellis Cheney), Jim Keough, Michael Keough, Patti Keough and Terry Hoffmann.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church (12600 84th Avenue NE, Kirkland, Washington) on Friday October 29, 2021. The viewing begins at 10:00 am and the funeral mass begins at 11:00 am. Committal will be at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery following mass (205 NE 205th ST, Shoreline, WA 98155).
No words can explain how much we will miss her, but she is now reunited with her SOB, Sweet Old Bob (husband) and her family, and she is back in God’s hands.
