January 22, 1934- January 12, 2018
Ken passed away just 10 days shy of his 83rd birthday, Friday, January 12, 2018, with his family by his side, in Duvall, WA. After having a stroke 4 months ago, dementia had taken over his mind and Parkinson’s had taken over his body leaving him bedridden. In his mind, he kept busy working in the garage all night, crawling under the house fixing things, installing doors and windows, and all the things he had done all his life. He worried people might think he was lazy just sitting there all day.
Ken was born in St. Paul, MN to Stephen & Emma Plasch, one of six boys. The family moved to Superior, WS when he was very young. His father died when he was 5 years old leaving his mother to raise the 6 boys on her own. Ken headed to Seattle at the age of 17 and never looked back.
He met and married Ella Mae Oreskovich in Kirkland, WA. They resided in Kirkland, where they would raise their 4 children. They had a summer cabin in Long Beach, WA.
Ken started a window washing and janitorial business, as well as carpet cleaning, Plasch Carpet Cleaning, which he successfully ran for over 50 years before retiring. If you were down on your luck, he would put you to work. He invested in real estate on the side. He was a member of the Kirkland Eagles (Golden Eagle), Moose Club of Ocean Park, and American Legion, Astoria, OR.
After retirement, he would spend winters in Apache Junction, AZ. He settled in Warrenton, OR about 6 years ago. He moved to Duvall in June when his health started to decline to be closer to family.
He loved hunting, fishing, walking the beach, clamming, bowling, cribbage, pinochle, and singing karaoke. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. He wanted to keep busy. He loved spending time with his family and having a cold beer with his friends.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, wife Ella, and his brothers Robert, Stephen, Richard, and Clifford.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Deborah Swanson of Duvall, WA and Denise Sloate of Duvall, WA; and sons, Kenneth Plasch Jr, Snohomish, WA and Randall Plasch, Portland, OR; brother, Donald (Jean) Plasch of Kirkland, WA; grandchildren, Stacy (Patrick) Reddy, Jonn (Jessica) Swanson, Anne and Steven Sloate; great grandchildren, Kailey Bostic, Patrick and Ciara Reddy, and Elijah and Eliyah Sloate.
A special thank you to Gwendolyn and Julie, from Evergreen Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his name to:
