April 29, 1935 to July 5, 2014
Leeward Antoine Boutte’ passes away July 5, 2014 after many struggles, battling cancer, and other illnesses. His last month’s were in the Seattle Washington at Elle’s Adult Family Home where they loved him like family. Lee was born April 29, 1935 in Youngsville, Louisiana to Lorphus Boutte’ and Louise Hollier. Lee is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen Babine, and Cynthia Harlow, and will join his beloved son, Thomas Lee Boutte’ who passed away in 1968. Lee was the last surviving brother to, Nedier Joseph Boutte’, and his twin, Howard Paul Boutte’ SR..,. He had seven sisters: Nedia Marie Viator, Nita Mary Bourque, Mable Simon, Laura Bell Dohon, Velta Louise Broussard, Betty Jane Boudruaux, and Janelle Elizabeth Babineaux . Lee was so proud of his heritage and family. He enjoyed visiting his hometown and often talked about how he missed visiting the rest of his family and friends. He was a great provider, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend.
Lee Boutte was also a very dedicated and proud patriot that served in the Armed Forces. He honorably served for our country’s freedom in the Air Force from 1953 to his retirement date in 1973, and during the Vietnam War. His field was aviation mechanic. He successfully completed many awards commending academic achievements during his certified trainings. Leeward Boutte’ was a fighter for what he believed in…Hence… the surname Boutte is believed to be a French connotation associated with the expression “one who was a fighter”.
In 1973 Lee retired, and moved his family to Tacoma Washington where his brothers lived. After retirement from the Armed Forces he enjoyed and was very creative at carpentry; he was a jack of many trades. The Washington area is where he lived for many years until he passed.
Lee was buried with honor and respect on Thursday July 10th, 2014 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent Washington at his request. Barton Family Funeral services coordinated with Tahoma NC to ensure full tribute to Lee Boutte’ as a veteran.
