Louisa McNulty

August 23, 1924 to February 9, 2012

Louisa, a long time resident of SeaTac, WA passed away peacefully. Louisa was born in San Antonio,Texas to Luis and Modesta Martinez. She traveled to Seattle as a young woman to work as an electrician for Boeing. Louisa and Ernest McNulty, the love of her life, married in 1945. Together they built their home in the 1940s. They had two children, Linda and Aaron. Louisa enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. She became a very active leader of a large Girl Scout troop. Louisa shared her love of singing, crafts, outdoor cooking, travel, public speaking, and her appreciation of the arts with these young girls.

As an adult learner, Louisa graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Education degree.  She had 21 happy years teaching Mt. Vernon elementary school children, retiring at age 68.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Ernest; her son, Aaron; her brothers and their wives, Manuel (Dela) Martinez and Ambrosio (Clara) Martinez; her brother-in-law, William McNulty, sister-in-law, Helen Williams, brother-in-law, Charles Williams, plus her nieces Irene, Rebecca, Marilyn; and nephews Jesse Jr., and Rolando. Louisa is survived by her daughter, Linda (Rich) O’Brien, her daughter-in-law, Kay(Steve) Patterson, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.

Louisa was passionate about learning. She loved to read about currant scientific discoveries. She had a command of both English and Spanish languages. She helped many children who needed warm coats or dentistry. On many occasions she gave bicycles for rewards in reading. She will be remembered for her great generosity to her family and her students, and their families. She was valued for the good advice she gave and admired for her accomplishments which were advanced for the time.

We will all remember and miss you, Mom.
