Louise Bisho Joost

Surrounded by her loving family, Louise Rose Bisho Joost died peacefully on July 2, 2024.

Born April 5, 1957, “Lu” was always a caring person with an unmatched zest for life.  When you look up “Determined” in the dictionary, you’ll find her picture there!  Louise was the kind of person who “never met a stranger”:  when at a gathering of people that she didn’t know before, you would soon find her enthusiastically chatting with her new friends!  She also made it her business to help virtually anyone who needed it.

A fifth generation San Franciscan, Louise was a proud graduate of Saint Brendan’s grammar school, Mercy High School (class of ’75 Go Skippers!), and the University of San Francisco, earning an R.N. degree in 1981 – the same year that she married William “Bill” Joost, her loving husband of 43 years.  Her nursing career, which began in OBGyn at San Diego’s Sharp Hospital, was notable for her caring and inventive support of students through her simultaneous school nurse offices at Newport, Samamish, and International High Schools and middle schools of the Bellevue School District.

Louise is well known for her tremendous love of “family” (related to her or not), of rocks and jewelry, of her cabin in Leavenworth, and, of course, of California’s Russian River.

Preceded in death by her parents Joseph Rodrigues Bisho and Elvira “Cis” Granfield Bisho, and brother Joseph R. “Rod” Bisho, she is survived by her husband William “Bill” E. Joost, brother David F. Bisho (Michele), sisters Penelope “Penny” Bisho Bolger (Michael) and Christine E. Bisho David (Michael), sons William “Will” J Joost (Lauren Hoshibata), Colin D. Joost (Megan O’Malley), and Louis E.A. Joost, four beautiful grandchildren:  Rosemary “Rosie” P. Joost,  Henry D. Joost,  Tycho J. Joost, and Jonah T.J. Joost, nieces Lauren Bisho McGreevy, Jessica Bolger Voytek,  Danielle Bisho Jones and Julia D. David, nephews Ryan M. Bolger and Evan D. David, and nine grand nieces and nephews.
