Lucille Mae Pizzalato
Lucille Mae Pizzalato passed away peacefully in Bellevue, Washington on January 16, 2024. She was born in Roslyn, Washington, the oldest child of Harry and Lillian (Markovich) Newton. During her youth, Lu was involved in various activities including horseback riding with the Roslyn Riders and participating in school sports.
Her first job was working at Mus Pharmacy in Cle Elum, Washington. After moving to Bellevue, Washington with her husband and children, she worked for Bellevue Florist for many years, as a floral designer and as their bookkeeper.
She leaves behind her husband of 71 years, Al Pizzalato. Al and Lu were high school sweethearts and were happily married in Cle Elum, just one week before Al shipped off to Korea. After Al returned from the war, they lived for a time in Cle Elum, where both of their children were born. They eventually moved to Bellevue, Washington where they raised their children and have continued to reside.
Lu is survived by her son, Alan (Cecelia) Pizzalato of Covington, her daughter, Sue (Bill) McDonnell of Mukilteo, her six grandchildren, Nick (Carrie) and Brad (Jessica) Pizzalato, Gina (Daniel) Shaughnessy, Megan (Kevin) Parker, Keri (Ryan) Oxner, and Katie McDonnell as well as her nine great grandchildren, Leo, Trajan and Octavius Pizzalato, Jordan and Peyton Pizzalato, Brooklyn and Riley Parker and Hadley and Piper Oxner. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brothers, Robert and Leroy and her sister, Glenda Newton.
Lu was very much loved by her family and friends and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family. She was an avid supporter and cheerleader of any activity pursued by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Al attended as many events as they were able to. They both loved camping and fishing trips which frequently included friends and family. Her children have many wonderful memories of the various family activities they all participated in when they were growing up, including snowmobiling, skiing and motorcycle riding. They appreciate what a good sport their mom always was about doing these things with them.
Lu had a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful heart. She will be missed by all who loved her. At her request, a small private service will be attended by immediate family only.
