Margaret was born on Christmas Eve 1935 in Orebro Sweden in a farming community.  At age 12 she immigrated to the United States with her family, first to Minneapolis, MN and then to Seattle, WA where they resided in the Queen Anne neighborhood.  She graduated from Queen Anne High School and attended the University of Washington to study nursing, but later decided to get married and devote her time to raising a family.  Margaret was a fantastic cook, seamstress, and enjoyed gardening and hosting gatherings for family and friends.  She also took classes in cake decorating and made many elaborate cakes

Over 40 years after immigrating to the U.S., she traveled back to Sweden with her husband to visit her birthplace and relatives, many of whom she had kept in correspondence with over the years. Margaret Nilsen

Her passing came rather suddenly following a diagnosis of cancer, but she was able to spend her remaining time on earth as she wished, surrounded and supported by her family.  A memorial service for Margaret celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 4pm at Cedar Park Northshore Church, 18737 68th Ave NE, Kenmore, WA.
