Marlene (Hollinger) Nelson passed away Friday, June 24th surrounded by her loved ones. Marlene was born September 3, 1946 in Raymond, Washington to Josephine and Clinton Hollinger. She grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Clover Park High School.
She resided many years in Mt. Vernon, WA where she married Mark Pearson and raised two daughters, Michelle and Alissa. She worked many years at Hendrickson’s while staying active with family activities such as camping, sailing, cooking, gardening and canning.
Marlene later moved to Ellensburg. She married her beloved David Nelson and together they built a beautiful home, complete with raised vegetable gardens so she could continue her passion of gardening and canning. They loved spending time together golfing, cooking, watching the Minnesota Vikings, camping in their RV, and spoiling their grandchildren.
Those that knew her benefitted from her amazing cooking and baking skills. Although homemade breads and cinnamon rolls were a favorite, she loved any kind of cooking and took pride in sharing with family and friends. Christmas gifts often included homemade krumkake, lefse and cookies that she would make with David along with beautiful jars of canned fruits and pickles.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband, David Nelson, her daughters, Michelle (Wayne) Marvin of Monroe and Alissa (Todd) Osborne of Kirkland and David’s children, Eric Nelson of Wenatchee and Kyla (Charlie) Brown of Ellensburg. She created many treasured memories with her beloved grandchildren, Hattie and Ella Marvin, Spencer and Tara Osborne, Addison and Oliver Brown.
At Marlene’s request, public services will not be held.
Memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital, PO Box 5371, Seattle, WA 981454-5005.
