Mary Ann (Palmer) Yates died unexpectedly on August 21, 2017 in Kirkland, Washington of natural causes.
She was born May 31, 1946 in Portland, OR to Elisa and Robert Palmer. Mary Ann attended Parkrose schools from elementary through early high school, graduating from Jefferson High School. She recently enjoyed the 50th Parkrose, class of ’64, high school reunion.
She leaves her daughter Tina (Marc) Otwell of Hot Springs Arkansas, brothers Ed Wallen of Austin, Texas and Steve Palmer of Victoria, British Columbia, 5 grandchildren (Amanda, Rachel, Andrew, Darian and Taylor) and 3 great grandchildren (James, Victoria, and Barrett).
Her husband John Yates, beloved daughter Lisa, and sister Melissa predeceased Mary Ann.
She was employed by Rainier Collection Services. She was active in professional organizations and served on the board of her home owners’ association.
Mary Ann lived large, was fun and outgoing; her genuine smile and infectious laugh announced her presence where ever she went. She had a big heart, big personality and generous spirit. She always saw the best in everyone, never met a stranger, and was a sucker for stray dogs, stray cats and stray souls. She spoiled her pets and her people.
Mary Ann’s faith was abiding, and her love of family and friends was unequivocal. After recently losing a friend herself, she called and left messages for many of her friends, just to remind them that she loved them. We love you, too, Mary Ann.
A private interment will take place later.
