June 5, 1942 – November 19, 2023
Mike Allen was a cherished father, brother, proud grandfather, and loved by all who knew him.
The second oldest of six children, Mike was born on June 5, 1942 to Wesley and Myra Allen in Seattle, WA. He grew up in the Northgate neighborhood with his siblings, Linda, Jennifer, Patricia, Richard, and Steven. Mike graduated from Bishop Blanchet High School, and attended Seattle Pacific University. He later served proudly in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Mike began a successful career in the automobile industry at Garfield Auto Parts, which led to a 30-year tenure at Chuck Olson Chevrolet, as a highly respected manager of the parts department. He loved jazz music, curating a fantastic vinyl collection, and was an avid golfer, sharing both these passions with his three sons, Jeff, Peter, and Spencer, during wonderful afternoons and weekends golfing at Hood Canal and around the region.
When most people start slowing down, Mike began running marathons, including two Emerald City marathons in Seattle and the New York Marathon. Mike also participated in several other competitive races, such as the Seattle to Portland bicycle race, often accompanied by his brothers, Richard, and Steve. Still keen to challenge himself, Mike also began climbing, successfully ascending to the summit of Mount Rainier.
Mike passed peacefully with his three sons by his side. His memory will live on through them and his four grandchildren, Olivia, Abigail, Cooper, and Elijah. He will be missed by former wives Edwina and Debbie, extended family, and many beloved friends. A service will take place at St. Brendan’s church in Bothell, WA on Friday, January 12th at 11:00am, with a celebration of life immediately following the service.
