Eulah Mae Cunha

Eulah Mae Scott Cunha was born July 7, 1922. Her parents Bernie and Lucille Scott lived in Dekoven, Kentucky where Eulah was born. She was the youngest child of five, her oldest sister Flora Geneva (Tillie), older brothers Harold and Lenard (Chick) and fraternal twin Beulah Rae (Bee), who was only older because Eulah kicked Beulah out first. They all grew up in Detroit Michigan. After high school Eulah, her twin sister and mother worked for the government during WWII. Eulah traveled and lived in thirteen different states as a result for working for the government.
As a child of the great depression, Eulah was very practical and hard working. She loved talking and connecting with people. She made a life of endless friends and honest communication. From her childhood she battled numerous amounts of illness and yet still overcame them and lived her life. That is what we believe led to her long 92 years of life.
One of the last states she lived in, California, is where she met her future husband Morris Cunha Eulah and Morrisat a dance club in Oakland, California. He asked her to dance several times before she finally said yes. A few years later, the two of them married on May 28, 1950. In the spring of 1952, their first and only child Carole Diane was born.
In 1962 she came in first place in a bowling tournament. With her winnings she decided to take private driving lessons to get her first driver’s license at the age of 40.
The family moved to Moraga, California where Eulah spent the next 20 years raising her daughter and winning numerous amounts of bowling trophies in the leagues around town. After her husband passed, she moved up to Washington in 1995. The past 20 years she lived close to her daughter and grandchildren. She still bowled until the age of 86, when she decided to retire because of fear of bringing her bowling average down.

EulahThroughout her life, Eulah enjoyed the love and companionship of three Boston Terriers. The first was Skippy with her two colored eyes and extreme protective nature of her family. The second was April, a beautiful female show dog that had a sweet and lovable disposition and was great with Eulah’s grandchildren growing up. Sabrina, her third, was a quirky and high strung dog that loved to chase balls and be loved by Eulah.
In the last year of her life, she lived in a retirement community In Renton. She made many new friends. Over the final few months, her daughter became her caretaker and moved Eulah into her home. She passed away on March 22, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones. Eulah is survived by her daughter Carole, son·in·law Peter Barceloux and grandchildren Reeve Barceloux and Kelly Conboy. Her last days were characterized by peace and love and trust in God, even though she would ask in her final days when she woke up, “Am I still here?” We grieve her loss but we thank God for her life and her love for others and dogs. We rejoice that she is at peace in the company of her family and in the love of the Lord.
