Alvin W. Winterroth

 

Born in Hebron, North Dakota on July 17, 1924 to Christoph and Anna Maria (Buelow) Winterroth. Passed away on March18, 2015 in Shoreline, Washington.

 
Alvin grew up and worked on the family farm in North Dakota when he met Eleanora Kautzman, a city girl from a neighboring town, and they were married February 18, 1946. They were married for 68 years until her death on December 28, 2014.

 
Alvin decided to leave the farm and become an electrician in 1948. He worked for several years as an apprentice and then journeyman in North Dakota. In 1955, he had heard that there were many more opportunities in Seattle at a company named Boeing. He packed up his wife and 4 children and moved to the West Coast and hired on at an electrical contractor and never made it to Boeing. He worked for many years for several contractors and retired in 1985.

 
Alvin was a member of the IBEW Union for 60+ years. He was very proud of the fact that one of his sons decided to follow in his footsteps and become an electrician as well.

 
Alvin was also a member of the Knights of Columbus North Seattle Council 5177 (Christ The King Parish). This organization supports acitivities with the Parish in charitable activities including, North Helpline Food Bank and St. Vincent de Paul. He was active in the Knights for many years and achieved the position of Grand Knight. He was also a Life Member of the Lake City Elks Club #1800.

 
Alvin shared many interests with his wife including dancing, camping, playing pinochle, and attending the annual North Dakota picnics at Cottage Lake. Both Alvin and his wife belonged to several bowling leagues over their active years. He was especially proud of maintaining a respectable bowling average even into his later years of life.

 
Alvin is survived by his five children and spouses, Rod (Diane), Dennis (Linda), Eunice (Tim, deceased), Al (Jan), and Curtis (Jonda). Also survived by twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, one sister, Alma Greenwood of Oregon, and one brother Dean Winterroth of Arizona. Predeceased by his wife, Eleanora, one sister and two brothers, one son in law and two grandchildren.

 
A Mass/Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11am, at Saint Mark Catholic Church, 18033 15th Place N. E. Shoreline, WA. Reception to follow. Private family graveside. No flowers please.
