It is with profound sadness that we write of Marguerite Knutson’s passing. Marguerite leaves behind Lawrence Joshua, her beloved husband, sister Elizabeth Schroeder and nephew David Shroeder. She will be missed by her cousin’s, Aunt’s, Uncle’s and countless friends. Predeceased by her parents, Barbara and Kenneth Knutson. Marguerite’s life was one of love, friendship and dedication to the countless people she helped over the years.
Marguerite passed away peacefully at home with her husband Lawrence and her sister Elizabeth at her side. She bravely battled aggressive brain cancer for a year and a half. She approached her disease with tenacity and optimism, never once did she lose her smile or her joy of life. She will be most fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Marguerite was born January 25th, 1956 in Seattle WA to Barbara and Kenneth Knutson. Raised in West Seattle she attended Fauntleroy Elementary School, Denny Middle School and Sealth High School. It was in High School that Marguerite developed her love for photography and science. Marguerite studied art with artist Henriette Woessner for many years. Marguerite began entering her artwork in juried Art Shows and won several awards. Most of her work was done in acrylic on canvas. Marguerite attended the University of Washington and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. After college, Marguerite worked as a Human Cytogenetic Pathologists and Scientific Photographer for the UW. In the mid 1980’s, Marguerite opened Turkish Village Restaurant in the University district. After deciding that the restaurant business was not her passion, she embarked on a Real Estate Career. As a Realtor for over 25 years, Marguerite served the real estate community as Director-at-Large 2012 Seattle King County Association of Realtors (SKCR) and was a 2012 Board Member NAHREP (National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals). Her last project was implementing the construction of dorm style housing for International students on the campus of Shoreline Seattle Community College in Shoreline, WA.
Marguerite met the love of her life, Lawrence Joshua in 1989. They were married in 2002 and resided in Shoreline. Together almost 26 years, they were each other’s best friends and confidant. Such a beautiful and strong love they shared together.
Marguerite’s sister Elizabeth was born in 1967. Marguerite played a huge part in her life and was so thrilled to become an Aunt to David in 2007. David fondly called her his Tia and loved her very much.
Marguerite enjoyed travel, reading, music, and art, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband, Lawrence. Marguerite had such a love for life, her husband, family and friends, her cat Misty and her dog Knut. There are no words for the void she will leave behind.
Viewing is 1pm and the Service will be at 2pm Friday, March 6th 1pm -4pm at Barton Funeral Home 14000 Aurora Ave North Seattle, WA 98133. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the Seattle Yacht Club located at 2601 West Marina Place Seattle, WA 98199 until 8pm. Please park in the parking areas designated “Three Hour Retail” located in front of Palisades Restaurant. DO NOT park in the Permit Only Section.
