Barbara A. Lippert

 

Barbara A. Lippert, 69, passed away February 12, 2015, from complications of lung cancer. Barbara was born on July 25, 1945 in Steubenville, Ohio, She is predeceased by her husband Joe Gouhin, her parents, Rosemary and Bernard Lippert and her brothers Bernard, Edward and Tom and her sister Susie Mowery. Barbara is survived by her sisters-in¬law Judi Lippert, Patti Gouhin, and LaDonne Lippert, her brothers-in-law Bob Gouhin and George Mowery, her many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

 
Barbara moved to Seattle in 1985 and became a well known figure in Seattle’s boating world. She was a pioneer before her time with her involvement with BoatScope, which used interactive television for boat advertising. She went on as a leasing agent and then yacht broker with Elliott Bay Yachting Center. She served as president of the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association, as a Board Member, served on their Ethics Committee and helped establish the Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB) national program in the Northwest, that certified qualified yacht sales professionals who meet the industry’s highest standards. Barbara worked for Nordhavn Yachts for the past six years and was proud to be their first woman sales representative.

 
Before moving to Seattle, Barbara lived in Hermosa Beach California where she worked for Western Airlines and was the international representative of Products International, a Los  Angeles importing firm. In Lake Tahoe she was a partner in Courtside Catering .

 

Barbara will be remembered for her dry sense of humor as well as a true friend, gourmet cook, caterer deluxe, a champion of homeless animals and always ready and willing to lend a hand. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The American Cancer Society, Fred Hutch Bone Marrow Transplant organization or Kitty Harbor, a Seattle shelter and adoption facility for homeless cats and kittens ..
