Mary Keeling passed away on January 30, 2015, in Redmond, Washington, at the age of 95. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on June 8, 1919, to Joseph E. and Mary (née Dyke) McGlothlin.
Upon graduating high school, Mary took a position at Mountain Bell Telephone Company, where she met Philip Glenn Keeling. On December 3, 1942, they were married in San Diego, California, where Phil had enlisted in the Navy.
Mary returned to Pueblo when Phil left San Diego for active duty. Following his discharge, the two lived in Pueblo, where their three daughters were born. In 1957, the family moved to Lakewood, Colorado, where Mary remained until 2010. She spent her last four years in Redmond, WA, near her youngest daughter, Marilyn, who brought sunshine to her life nearly every day of those four years.
Anyone who knew Mary, knew of her devotion to her family and her love of flowers and gardening, as evidenced by her extensive collection of well-tended peonies, roses, and iris. She was a great friend to many, playing in two bridge groups for over fifty years, and belonging to various other organizations over the years. Nothing made Mary happier than to be able to share with her friends great fragrant bouquets of flowers from her garden.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Phil, and her brother, Francis E. McGlothlin. She is survived by her three daughters, Pat (Harry) Sebern of Flower Mound, TX; Karen (Tom) Bird, of East Lansing, MI; and Marilyn (Fred) Subala, of Redmond, WA. Mary is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary will be cremated and her remains will join those of Phil, her husband, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, in Denver, Colorado. A memorial service is planned for the summer at the cemetery in Denver.
