Mary Mildred Ide

Mary Mildred Ide (De Rosa), 93, died peacefully in her sleep on October 31, 2014 in Everett, Washington.

Mary was born October 28, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio. She was the daughter of John and Anna DeRosa of Logansport Indiana. Mary was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Logansport High School in 1939 where she was a member of the National Honor Society.

She also attended Indiana State Teachers College for two years prior to her marriage to Claire Braithewaite Ide on March 14, 1942.  They had two daughters, Karen DeGroff (Kent) and Judy Edwards, widow of Ron.

The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1946.  Mary and Claire formed “Ide Television, Zenith Sales and Service” in 1964.  Mary went back to Phoenix College to obtain classes in accounting and bookkeeping and achieved her goals to help her husband run a very quality, personalized business that serviced three generations of families in the Phoenix metro areas.  They retired July 1st, 1990, closing their business.  Mary and Claire moved to Monroe, Washington in 2005 to be near their daughter Judy and to find additional services to help them with Claire’s declining health.

While they owned their business, Mary was the business manager and took great pride in servicing their customers. In her free time she loved writing, and had poems and magazine articles published. Mary was a licensed general class ham radio operator and enjoyed talking with other hams world wide.  She enjoyed cooking, especially Italian food. She was an avid gardener, animal lover, and a wonderful sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Claire, her parents, her brother Marion, and grandson Ron Edwards.  She is survived by sisters Geraldine Niemantsverdriet and Angeline Dexter, daughters Karen DeGroff and Judy Edwards, son in law Kent DeGroff, Grand Children Kelley DeGroff, Kimberly Gear, Michelle Edwards and Monique Critchley. She had six Great Grandchildren: Jason and Justin Gear, Joshua Torres, Lillian and Lucy Critchley and Jonathon Mathieu.

Cremation arrangements were made at Barton Family Funeral Service, Kirkland, WA.  There will be no formal service.
