Ted Poulos

In loving memory –

Ted, age 70 of Kirkland, passed peacefully on Monday April 14th.  He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on November 03, 1943 to Louis and Eleanor Poulos.  Ted proudly served in the U.S. Navy, then met the love of his life, and started his own family in Seattle, Washington.  He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  His life will continue to be celebrated by wife Jackie, son Ted Jr., daughter Nicole & Brad Miller, grandsons Cole & Chase, sisters Pam Rasmusen, Kathy Schweiss, Marge Athey, and Elaine, dozens of in-laws & extended family, and countless friends.115

Ted & Jackie owned and operated Ted’s Carpets in Kirkland.  The business thrived for 36 years and was unmatched in customer service, follow-through, respect, and continual support, because of Ted and what he believed in.  He conducted his business and personal matters with no regrets… the right way… his way.  It worked so well, that he continued to fulfill repeat customer’s business, even years after Ted (so-called) “retired”.

Affectionately known as “The Big Guy”, Ted was the true definition of family man.  It seemed that everything he did was with a family member, or for them.  He had an infectious positive energy that spread to everyone around him.  Ted’s terrific sense of humor and storytelling was often the center of every family gathering, or holiday.  He was the guy everyone looked forward to seeing. ted and jackie

Ted’s list of friends extends beyond the decades or geographical location.  He had an effortless ability to connect with everyone he met, and create a natural feeling of belonging.  He was one of those extremely rare guys who could gain people’s, trust, respect, and adoration in an instant.  He was often befriended quickly, but always befriended forever.

Ted lived life to the fullest.  He knew what he liked and surrounded himself with it.  Ted had a passion for cars and took great pride in his classic ’55 Chevy and custom FOOSE Mustang.  He enjoyed visiting with friends and showing his cars at local shows.  He relished the time he spent with Jackie and his family at their home in Arizona.

Ted “G” Poulos, was always asked what the “G” stands for….

“Greek” was always an obvious first response, but there was so much more

“Generous” of his time, his enthusiasm, his experiences, and his wisdom

“Genes” proud of his heritage, cherished his time with immediate family, constantly reaching out to extended family, never missed a wedding, reunion, holiday, or family get together

“Grandpa” inspired by them as much as the boys were of him, his legacy

But quite simply he was the “Greatest” guy to be around.

He was known by many and loved by all.  This world is a better place for him having been here.
