Kenneth Guy Lent III

Life of Guy

January 22, 1948 – April 5, 2014

On January 22, 1948, in Portland, Oregon, Guy was born to Kenneth Guy and Ruth Lena Lent. He attended Jefferson High School, where he excelled as an honor student, while participating in PopWarner football, track, and wrestling.

Guy joined the Air Force where he served for 8 years, rising to a Staff Sergeant. He completed his BS degree in Business at Portland State University and began a lengthy career in sales before retiring on April 4, 2014.

Guy was affectionately known as “The Candy Man” for passing out candy to everyone at The Home Depot where he worked, and as “Mr. Christmas” for his indoor and outdoor Christmas decoration extravaganza. He enjoyed remodeling, barbecuing, cooking, travel, spending time with family and friends, and providing trays of Christmas cookies to neighbors and friends at Christmas.

After having survived cancer for three years, Guy passed away in his sleep. He is survived by Laurie Lent, his wife; three siblings: Patricia Lent of Milwauke, OR, Gerri Sue Lent of Portland, OR, Zachary Lent of Pasadena, M D; two sons: Jason Garrick Lent of Oregon City, OR, Kenneth (Buzz) Guy Lent IV of Renton, WA; one stepdaughter and one stepson: Amira Susan Barry of Aubrey, TX, Adem Christopher Colby, of Denton, TX; and four grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Monday, April 28, 2014 at Cady Cremation Services & Funeral Home, 8418 S. 222nd St., Kent, WA 98031.
