Samuel Luis Lagmay

Samuel Luis Lagmay, 77, better known as Sammy was born September 4, 1936 in Denver, Colorado to Benny and Mary Lagmay.  The family moved to Stockton, CA. in 1942 and then in 1946 to Wapato, WA. where Sammy grew up.  He spent much of his youth working on his Father’s farm, along with his many siblings. 

Sammy graduated from Wapato High School in 1955.  After graduation he attended Yakima Valley College, Central Washington University  and the University of Washington.  He served in the Army from 1959-1961. After leaving the service he moved to Seattle where he was employed by the Boeing Company for 30 plus years as an engineer, of which 19 of those years he worked in Boeing’s Wind Tunnel.  He later retired in 1995. 

Sammy was a man of great faith and attended various churches in the Seattle area.  He enjoyed spending holidays and get-togethers celebrations with his family.  He was a free spirit and liked to collect many various items. 

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Mary Lagmay; his brother, David; and nephew, Scott Lagmay Campbell.  He lost his battle with cancer on March 3, 2014 at Kindred Arden Rehab Center. 

Sammy is survived by 6 sisters:  Helen Lagmay (his twin); Andrea Korrell of Seattle, WA;  Eileen Garza of Las Vegas, NV;  Carmel Sullivan, of Olympia, WA.;  Gail Silsby of Honolulu, HI.;  Susie Pasco of Wahiawa, HI.  He is also survived by 4 brothers;  Leonard and Tommy Lagmay of Seattle, WA.;  Chuckie Lagmay of Wapato, WA.;  Augie Lagmay of Des Moines, WA.  He is survived by 11 nephews, 4 nieces and numerous great nieces and  nephews. 

Aloha to our beloved brother “Sammy” you will be missed.  Whenever we see storage units, we will Think of you fondly—— until we meet again! 

Services will be held on March 12, 2014, at  City View Church, 255 Hardie Ave SW., lRenton, WA. 98057.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations maybe made to the American Cancer Society.
