Patricia “Pat” Ann Ryan

Pat passed away February 27, 2014 after a long battle with lymphoma. She was born on July 15, 1944 in Elizabeth, NJ, daughter of Leo and Anne Baranowski. She graduated from Battin High School and later Washington Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, DC where she was valedictorian. While in Washington, DC, she met the love of her life, Kerry, whom she remained married to for 49 years. A registered nurse, Pat was “on-call” for all scrapes and bruises in the neighborhood. She was a Girl Scout leader and received the Knights of Columbus St. Anne Award for her service, presented by Archbishop Hunthausen. She was active in her parish with choir, nursing, and social justice and had a particular love of the youth programs. Pat’s involvement in youth activities resulted in her receiving the Catholic Youth Organization’s ‘For God and Youth’ Award. Pat loved camping and the outdoors and was an avid runner and cyclist. Pat is survived by her husband, Kerry and children Kelly Ryan, Kimberly Stege (Tom) and Shannon Giejda (Jan); brother Leo (Nancy); grandchildren Ryan and Alex Stege, Kieren, Jason and Makenna Giejda; brothers-in-law Robert and Ken (Kathy), sister-in-law Karen, many nieces, nephews and friends.Mom-girl

 

Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Madeline Sophie, 4400 130th Place SE, Bellevue, WA 98006. Reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to Special Olympics (specialolympics.org) or the National Down Syndrome Society (ndss.org).
