Lowell Alan Power of Woodinville passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, with his family by his side. Lowell was 83 years old. Lowell was born in a log cabin in Big Piney, Wyoming on April 24, 1930. He had two older brothers; Layton Arthur, Lloyd Adaire, and younger brother; Leigh Anthony. The mischievous boys enjoyed many adventures growing up in Wyoming, Manmoth Oregon, and Bremerton.
On July 26, 1950 Lowell married his Bremerton high school sweetheart, Lois, and they enjoyed life together for 58 years until Lois passed in 2008.
In 1952, Lowell, joined the Navy to serve our country in San Diego. Honorably discharged in 1956, Lowell and Lois returned to Seattle to focus on building a career at the Boeing Company and raising their three children. In 1967, Lowell built a beautiful home on Hollywood Hill and the family made Woodinville their home.
Lowell immediately wanted to serve his community. He became very involved in the Woodinville Lions club, and clubs throughout the nation and world. There is no way to recount his many contributions. Lowell worked at the annual Salmon bake and Pancake breakfast, represented his club in the Macy’s Day Parades. He worked on projects to aid the blind, and to provide eye glasses to people around the world. He helped with an annual program where elementary children expressed their interpretation of World Peace through art. He contributed countless hours to the Youth Exchange Program; sending high school kids to experience cultures in other countries. The list of Lowell’s involvement goes on and on.
Lowell enjoyed many hobbies. He could often be found on the golf course. He also crafted beautiful items in his woodworking shop in his basement.
Lowell is survived by children; Michael Kenneth Power of Jacksonville, Florida, Kelly Kathleen Ellis of Edmonds, Wa. and Kathryn Lee Szymanski of Issaquah, Wa. Lowell has 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Lowell was admired, respected and loved by co-workers, friends and neighbors. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 3rd at Holy Spirit Lutheran church located at 10021 NE 124th St. Kirkland, Wa. 98034
