Mary Louise Greco Hill
Mary was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on December 23, 1930 to Santo and Josephine Greco and passed away on February 13th, 2014 at the age of 83 in Kirkland, Washington. Mary’s parents had emigrated from Sicily to America and eventually settled in Pass Christian, Mississippi, where she was raised. Along with her brother Johnny and sisters Nora and Rosie, Mary often spoke of a happy childhood on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to dances and other social events, and was once the Queen of the Pass Christian Mardi Gras celebration.
Mary attended secretarial school and worked for 20 years at the Hancock Bank. While working at Hancock Bank she met Bert who was in the area working for Boeing on the Apollo project. Mary and Bert were married on July 14th, 1968 and began their family. At that point Mary had already had a 20 year career working at Hancock Bank and chose to devote herself to being a full-time mother to daughter Sandra who was born on July 16th, 1969 and to son Jim on May 22nd, 1971. Shortly after Jim was born, Bert’s job with Boeing took them to Morgantown, West Virginia and then eventually to Kirkland, Washington in the Summer of 1976, which became their home.
She was also an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and enjoyed social events and charitable events with the friends she made there.
Mary was also dedicated to her jobs of homemaker and mom and she excelled at both. She enjoyed crafts such as cross stitch, crochet and making porcelain dolls and figurines. She was an excellent cook and found great joy in delivering sweets to the Fire Department where her son works on Valentine’s day along with her sorority sisters.
Mary’s sweet, caring and kind spirit touched all that she came into contact with. She will be remembered and cherished as a loving and devoted wife, mother and sister.
Mary’s service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Parish in Kirkland on Wednesday, February 26th, 2014 with a funeral mass at 11am, immediately followed by a reception in the church’s social hall and interment at Kirkland Cemetery.
